Brian Simpson had previously been in the Roy Dwain and the Roamers, another Worksop group. When Tracy left she was replaced by Greg Scott (stage name). They played the Notts, Derbyshire, Lincs and South Yorkshire area’s. They toured the army camps of France. Tracy joined the Veetones in December 1965 and Greg Scott (real name Gil Davies) took over the lead vocals.

Such a fabulous band photo. All I know of this group comes from a few posts by Tony Parnham on facebook and youtube.

Tony Parnham posted on facebook, March 9th, 2020:
Hi All, This is a long shot after an extensive local search already. I was lead guitar in a 60’s group called TRACY and the SAPPHIRES. We were from Worksop Nottinghamshire. The photo shows us on the afternoon of our departure to France to work the US Army camps in 1964-65. A number of my band mates are now deceased …however I am trying to locate the girl singer in the photograph.
She was a local girl from the village of Clowne near Worksop. After leaving the group she carried on performing on the Club circuit under the name of ‘TRACY LANE’. Then during the early 70’s she joined the Kaye Sisters for a while and later teamed up with a lady keyboard player as a Duo back in the Clubs. If anyone out there might recognise her or provide me with perhaps a link, I would be most grateful. Tony Parnham.

Hi, My name is Tony Parnham, I was born in 1945 in Langley Street near the Abbey Cross. I knew the Roamers back then a very good classy group. I was lead guitarist in a group called The Sapphires in Worksop between 1963–1966. Your photos show Brian Simpson (deceased) in the Roamers line up and he later played rhythm for us with Brian Rose on bass whose still a great friend of mine and Graham Presley on drums (now deceased). The group split in 66. I then continued as a duo with a female singer from Worksop named Patti Marsden. We were later married but now deceased“.

Hi Tony, Thanks for you comment I remember you and the Sapphires very well, sorry to hear about Graham i didn’t know he had passed I last saw him at the hospital and he wasn’t good then. we also had a vocalist in common Greg Scott (whatever happened to him) as well as the same manager for a short time, trust your keeping well and enjoying retirement.?

Yes, Brian spoke to Gill (Greg Scott) sometime last year, good looking lad and a good singer. I believe he lives back in South Wales somewhere. We had Tracy Lane for a while before him, she went off and joined the Kay Sisters in the 70’s. Does David Thursby ring a bell? Brian Simpson (affectionately known as Rocky) never told us he played for the Roamers. The Veetones were managed by David Thursday too.
Yes thank you I’m 73 now of course and still kicking. Can’t believe what we all did in the 60’s now….fantastic era and time.?

Yes it was Thursby who asked us to give Gill a try out ( I think he liked to swap singers around) which was great as a few months after he joined us Thursby arranged a weeks gigs for us in Wales he was very handy as interpreter.?
