Nottingham punk band circa 1977/78 that when split half formed Medium Medium and the other half Small Print.
From Medium Medium’s History page.
“By the end of 1978, The Press, a two-year-old Nottingham-based punk/rhythm and blues band, had undergone personnel changes and a change of name to re-launch itself as Medium Medium. Comprising John Lewis (vocals/sax), Andy Ryder (guitar/vocals), Alan Turton (bass), Nigel Stone (drums), and Graham Spink (“special noises”), Medium Medium’s self-described “extreme dance music” had reviewers scrambling to draw comparisons with the band’s contemporaries and find a label for its post-punk sound”.
Paddy Campbell: Drums
Paddy remembers (from a now lost thread)
“I took wife wife to be to see Gaffa on our first date (Tuesday 14th Febuary 1978). Obviously, I always hedged my bets then (i.e. if we didn’t get on, at least I could watch the band). Later that year I was the drummer in a new Nottingham band, The Press. And we not only had the honour of having Wayne and Co coming to see us at the Hearty Goodfellow, but they opened for us when we all went down to Exeter University for a gig. Hard act to follow”.
