Strange Days

Derby rock and pop group, 1968 to the present.

They played many times in the Nottingham area, just as Nottingham groups would play in Derby, and as we don’t have a football tribalism culture on this site I would like to plot the history of this fine keyboard group led by Ken Cook.

Derby Market Place in the 1970’s
Strange Days – Another Day – 1977

From the ashes of “Thorndyke Mordecai’s Imagination” and then just “Imagination” they formed in 1968 after deciding to pursue the more progressive sounds of the late sixties rather than the soul sounds they had been playing since the mid sixties. With keyboard player Ken Cook leading the way they played on the club circuit and they would and could mix their set accordingly providing pop hits of the day alongside heavier and more daring numbers when the situation allowed. They released a self penned single in 1977 and continued through the decades to entertain with rock and pop standards but also songs of their own.

There is a Strange Days website here
