Nottingham group circa 1979/81
Line up:
Sue Mellard: Lead Vocals and Percussion
Niel Campsie: Guitar and backing vocals
Ed. Marchwicz: Sax, Flute and backing vocals
Martyn Staves: Keyboards
Trevor Marriot: Bass
Andy Ferguson: Drums
Andy Ferguson had started in a band called Overshoes around 1973/74 that for a short time also had Clive “Myph” Smith, later of Gaffa, in the group. Overshoes eventually became “Ice” who also featured Sue Mellard. Originally a six piece they became a five piece group.
When Nottingham group The Press broke up, half went on to form Medium Medium. Neil Campsie left and formed Small Print and was the chief writer. He wrote both songs on their lone single release. Discogs. They did appear on compilation albums and did make a very rare acetate. More on these later.

Rare Acetate Record
The above acetate was recently sold on eBay (I didn’t win) with the following info.
“Scarce original acetate of great unreleased debut 7″ release from 1980 by Manchester band that released a good punk power pop new wave single on 1981 on Edge Records. This acetate was used by the band for promotional purposes (as explained in the press release) and this was supposed to be their debut single (obviously cancelled as the only single by them that exists is the one from 1981) – together comes a gig-sheet as well – in the press release their is information about the band and the acetate release which was recorded at the legendary Cargo Studios on Rochdale – as it seems this track on the acetate was not released in any other from or in any compilation LP like other tracks by the band. The band bothered to create a nice DIY picture sleeve as well in black and yellow glossy paper. An overall exciting and unique release by this interesting band from Manchester”.
