Nottingham 3 piece garage psych rock group mid 1980’s.
Thanks to Gary Lee (#2) who sent me some audio and photos.
Also Martyn Tuckwood who supplied photos (#1) and a few of his memories:
“I think they started 81/82 with Ross and Ady being the core members. Pretty sure Maria from Clint Bestwood helped with vocals. The drummer from Sense (Jon Riley from Nottingham synth pop trio 1981 – 1988) played on some demo recordings at Sin City during this time but was never a member of the band. When I was asked to join in late 82 or early 83 Pete Clark had been rehearsing with them but I’m nor sure if he did any gigs. They were rehearsing at the international community centre where I was working at the time, my drum kit was set up in the rehearsal room. I was working on the night they were supposed to have a practice and Pete couldn’t make it ( I was told). They asked me to sit in on a few songs and asked me to join the band that night”.
Line ups:
1982-3
Ross Birch: Guitar
Ady Smith: Bass
Martyn Tuckwood: Drums
1983-5
Ross Birch – Guitar
Andrew Dickinson: Bass
Martyn Tuckwood – Drums
Red Go Red were produced by Paul Arnall of Fatal Charm. I saw the band a few times and I got some photos from Martyn Tuckwood’s facebook page (for now, marked #1) and some from their friend Gary Lee (for now, marked #2).
Here is a song from a Radio Trent broadcast from a gig at the Garage, Nottingham (I was there) to be going on with. Ady Smith guested on rhythm guitar for this gig. They were support to Dr and the Medics. Hear the whole gig here.
