Other Flinstones

As mentioned on the Tony D and the Shakeouts page there were other groups called “The Flintstones”.

Here are three.

Another Manchester based Flinstones (Fred and the Flinstones)

They were an alter ego of Kirk Daniels and The Deltas. Formed in 1960, they included Kirk Daniels (Henry Morris Jnr) on lead vocals who sadly passed away 2007 and future Hollies bass player Eric Haydock (Eric Haddock). They were later joined in 1962 by two more future Hollies, Allan Clarke and Graham Nash, who used the names, Ricky and Dane Young. The band also dressed up and played gigs as Fred and the Flintstones. Read about them at Manchester Beat.

A Liverpool based Ogi & the Flintstones.

I came across this thread on Steve Hoffman’s Web site.

Digging up some rare stuff there. 😎
Regarding The Flintstones, they usually went by the name of Ogi & The Flintstones, although none of the members were named Ogi, but the name came from a misprinted newspaper ad that read ‘Ugh, It’s The Flintstones”. They originally formed as the Pegasus Four in 1959. Soon after their first gig, they changed their name to The Toglodytes and then shortly after that, The Flintstones. The line up as Ogi & The Flintstones was Ray Walker (vocals/guitar), Pete Dunn (lead guitar), Keith Corelli (bass), and Len Holden (drums). They usually played at such Liverpool clubs as the Zodiac Club, The Beat Route Coffee Club, Top Hat Club, Hambleton Hall, The Iron Door, and The Cavern.

In 1961 they recorded a reel-to-reel tape performing hits of the day, including songs by Chuck Berry, Chubby Checker, and Joey Dee. In 1963 The Flintstones called it a day and the members moved on. Pete Dunn stayed in Liverpool and was a founding member of The Clayton Squares.

Unfortunately, the complete tape they made in 1961 has not been released, but one track (Chuck Berry’s ‘Around and Around’) was released in 2013 on Beat Waves ‘Cross The Mersey – Volume 3.
