Mick Gill was an early pioneer of Nottingham revivalist Jazz. He formed his “Mick Gill’s Imperial Jazz Band” after taking over leadership of “Eric Lovell’s Jazz Revivalists”, Eric being one of the first Jazz musicians in Nottingham. They were one of the first Jazz Bands in the country and they recorded and released records in the forties and fifties.
