A venue across the road from Nottingham Midland Railway Station with an eclectic range of rock groups both old and new and local bands too. This mid to late eighties era is at the end of my self imposed NMA project time scale but I have some flyers so I may as well display them here.
The Mardi Gras was opened on Thursday 24th January 1984. The venue had previously been known as the Bier Keller. By 1987 the Mardi Gras was in full swing as a live venue with 5 nights a week often being devoted to live music. Through 1984 and 1985 the venue started with a mix of gigs, promotions and regular nights. A night might have a Divorced, Separated and Widowed night, a Country and Western duo, a rock and roll revival night, Confusion heavy rock disco, a guest DJ, a club band night (old bands still on the circuit) but fairly soon it was current rock bands leaning slightly towards the heavier and alternative sound.
