Leicester

The Leicester and Nottingham music scenes were a less connected in the sixties than the Notts, Derbyshire groups and the Leicester scene is covered brilliantly by two books compiled and written by Shaun Knapp so I don’t feel the need to cover them on my website.

However, saying that, I did put a page together about Ned Ludd (the Leicester group) before I read the High Flying Around book. I was then contacted by Brian Plews who told me more about Circa (Design company also featured in the book) which I added, and then I added a little more on some of the late sixties groups in Leicester.

The two books are:
High Flying Around: Memories of the 1960s Leicester Music Scene

Mods: Two City Connection. Memories of the 1960’s Leicester and Nottingham Mod scene

I highly recommend them. First hand experiences and memories of what it was like in the sixties as a musician and punter in the Leicester scene of local groups and night clubs and with the Two City Connection book the Nottingham Mod scene too.

Covering Leicester groups like Family, The Roaring Sixties, The Farinas, Legay, Pesky Gee, Black Widow, Hall C. Blake, The Beatnix and clubs and venues like the Il Rondo and the Night Owl and much more.
