Hope Howard came to Nottingham in the late 1950’s from the Caribbean and immersed himself in the local folk scene playing Calypso Folk music through the 1960’s and into the 1970’s.

His contemporaries at through those times were Spike Woods, Gil Harper, Eric Foxley, Dave Turner, Tim Disney and many more.

Hope Howard married Ruth Johnson in 1964.

For a time Hope Howard was secretary of the Nottingham Folk Workshop.
