Circa 1979/82. Nottingham group fronted by former Plummet Airlines leader Harry Stephenson.
After Harry Stephenson left Plummet Airlines in the late seventies he took a little time out before returning to the live music circuit. He turned to old mates in Nottingham group Gaffa to get him up and running and an independent single was released in early 1980. The line up was:
Johnny Maz; Guitar, Synth and vocals (John Maslen)
Wayne Evans; Bass and vocals
Brett Marretto; Drums (Mick Barratt)
Harry Stephenson; Guitar and vocals
Harry and the Atoms
Working for nothing / Living for the moment
“N” Products, 1980
This band was fronted by former Plummet Airlines front man Harry Stephenson and the rest of the band was Gaffa men Wayne Evans, John Maslen and Mick Barratt. Both Plummet Airlines and Gaffa were premier Nottingham bands in the mid and late seventies with a friendly respect for each other throughout. After Plummet Airlines finished at the end of 1977 Harry took a year out to spend time with his family. Returning to Nottingham he hooked up with the Gaffa lads who were still gigging regularly and wrote two songs which they recorded at UK Pro in Shepherds Bush, London. They were engineered by Paul Bass and Rob Keylock and the record was produced by Pete Thomas and Mick Barrett of “N” Products. The record had a picture sleeve and an insert. The band carried on with further line ups for a couple of years before Harry dropped the “Atoms” moniker. The friendship with the Gaffa lads remained and Harry and Wayne Evans still play in The Last Pedestrians in the 2020’s.
A later 5 piece line up
Dave Micklethwaite (Drac) played bass in a later line up and was on recordings that featured the songs:
