Sometimes described as a “Nottingham” group in other counties C.Q.15 were from Retford or close by.
Carol Young was described as “just over five foot of personality and dynamite”. She once studied serious music until meeting up with the rest of the group members. Formed in 1964, Bill Lee had been playing since 1961 and pro since 62. Mick Sanderson had always worked alongside Bill and Bass player Paul Newman (not the Paul Newman of The X’Calibers) had played pro since 1960. Drummer Pete Nightingale had once stood in for Jake Tully of The Capitols.
They played the Retford Town Hall, Drill Hall Gainsborough, Holbeach Youth Club, Jeff Dancing Club Grantham, The Raven Club RAF Waddington, Casino in Leicester and in Nottingham the Dancing Slipper, Hicking Pentacost Social Club, Gedling Miners Welfare and Albany Music Hall. They played alongside The Falcons, The Beatmen, Wat Dat Dare, Shellies, The Jack Shepherd Four, The Royalists and many more.
