The Intrepids
In 1965, five young lads formed a band based in Ilkeston, The Intrepids. We have been looking for a lead vocalist and auditioned a lad named Robert Stevenson and turned him down, he’s better known today as Robert Lindsay (known for his stage and television work, including appearances with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in musical theatre.)
We played at most of the venues in and around the Nottingham area, sadly most of them no longer exist. Perhaps our favourite gig was at the Festival Inn, Trowell, Notts – with the Eric Pembleton Big Band. We had a change of personnel and the band became The Frame in 1967.
