The Last Pedestrians / Loose Cannons

Wayne Evans and Harry Stephenson have known each other since the early seventies when they were in two of Nottingham’s best loved bands of that decade. Wayne with Gaffa and Harry with Plummet Airlines.
Often collaborating they were playing as a duo at the Turf Tavern as Commuter and the Last Pedestrians in the mid to late 1990’s. Phil Jackson started to watch them on a Wednesday night and Wayne asked Phil, who had recording equipment, if he would record them. Phil added some mandolin to these recordings that became their first album and this also led to him joining.

This is the first clear line up of The Last Pedestrians:
Wayne Evans, Harry Stephenson, Phil Jackson
They were a acoustic set up.

Wayne and Harry were also playing as Loose Cannons with Mick Barrett and Clive “Myph” Smith. Phil Jackson joined also. Paul “Beano” Summers joined on keyboards. Beano had been in a group with Wayne Evans in the late sixties, Tadpole Lane.
This was a full electric band. Stan Marshall would sometimes make a guest appearance.

The two bands had ran parallel for a few years.

Loose Cannons carried on until Mick Barrett decided to leave and move to Norfolk and then Hereford in the early 2000’s. Chris Green replaced Mick Barrett on drums. In 2009 when Myph decided to leave, the two bands were collapsed together as The Last Pedestrians. Chris Green left and Richard Kensington joined on percussion.

The line up of Wayne, Harry, Phil, Beano and Richard became steady for the next ten years.
Around 2019 Richard Kensington left and was replaced by Mark Joseph on percussion. In 2022 Paul Quadros joined to make it a six piece.
