Johnny Hobbs was from the Watnall / Kimberley area and started playing Jazz in the late 1940’s. He formed his own band the Stompers in the 1950’s and played for many decades. He was an unmistakable man with long tied back hair, large earings and bracelets. He ran a record shop on Arkwright Street for a while in the late 60’s early 70’s.
