Nottingham punk/rock band circa 1977/80
Along with Some Chicken, The Drains were an early Nottingham punk group. Other local punk and new wave bands that arose at this time were The Transmitters, The Bollards, Skin Patrol, Lethal Dose, Spasm, The Blitz Kids, The Hormones, Art Failure, The Turbines and Berlin.
John Beeton had been in a group called Grass in the late sixties who became Sugar Pig in 1970. By 1977 with punk claiming a place in the public’s mind he teamed up with Donnie Johnson to form The Drains. Donnie Johnson was from Newcastle and had been an extra in the film Get Carter featuring Michael Caine. I think this scene with the Cafe is the one but I’m 100% sure.
